Bioscience: An Industry that is a Growth Champion.  Not many industries can brag that they grew through a recession. The bioscience industry can. From 2000 to 2009, the bioscience industry in Ohio added over 10,000 jobs, and is expected to continue adding more jobs in the next decade. 

Some other fun facts:

  • The Ohio bioscience industry’s payroll  was $4.3 billion in 2009, an increase of more than $1 billion since 2000
  • Bioscience related companies are found in 72 of Ohio’s 88 counties
  • Between 2005 and 2010, 236 bioscience companies expanded operations in Ohio

  • The average wage for bioscience employees in 2009 was 67% higher than the average wage of all industries in Ohio
  • The average wage of a Ohio bioscience job in  2000 was $62,426
